Effects of Forced-Air Precooling on Postharvest Physiological and Storage Quality of Winged Beans

Winged beans accumulate abundant field heat following harvest, and their shelf life is shortened if precooling not performed promptly. In the present study, top-suction forced-air (FC) was employed to rapidly remove from pods, its effects on winged bean pod storage quality were assessed. After postharvest FC mean 1/2 time 5.8 min 7/8 14.7 min, which 9.6 times 11.7 faster than room cooling (RC), respectively. Moreover, after applied heat, weight loss rate at 0.92%, significantly lower that RC (1.98%). could delay decay, decay only 18% day 14 storage, 52% of RC. During 12 °C 85% relative humidity (RH) pods in group 14.8 days, longer (10.6 days). conclusion, an effective method maintain beans.
